Art Parties

Creating birthday cakes are a great collaborative activity that the kids love. Think of it as an Art Party version of The Great British Bake Off. Children work in small groups of 3-5 and decorate the prepared cakes with paint, markers, streamers and more.

You can take the cakes with you or leave them with us to enjoy.

An independent Art activity that allows kids to experiment with shapes and colour. Using the already prepared cardboard head as a framework the kids add the features by glueing cardboard shape on and adding colour with paint. Popular themes are Kawaii, animals, and humans.

All kids get to take their mask home at the end of the party to display at home.

This is a great activity where partygoers get to create their very own keyring, or bag tag, using polymer clay. At Primary Colours we only use premium polymer clays like Sculpey and Fimo. Children create a small three dimensional object out of polymer clay that will be baked and added to a keyring chain to take home at the end of the party. Popular themes are heads, animals, flowers, and food.

Borrowing from the Hervé Tullet playbook, this collaborative activity is both fun, and beautiful. Partygoers are given instructions on what and how to paint a large mural made up of smaller boards. They drop paint and apply with brushes under the strict, but playful command, of the instructor. It is not until the end of the process that the image reveals itself.

The painting is deconstructed at the end of the session and everyone gets a piece to take home. They work nicely as small abstract Artworks in their own right.

DAS air dry clay is coloured with acrylic paint in this engaging, and educational, activity. Partygoers will learn how to create basic forms and join clay as they build their own mini-sculptures. Because the clay has been coloured in advance no painting is needed. And as the clay is air drying it does not require firing in a kiln. You can take it home right away.

Small wooden based stands are provided. Popular themes are animals, plant life, Kawaii and cartoon characters.

An open ended activity for older party goers that requires the full time allocation to be completed. Every reveller is given a hand crafted 'stage' that they then decorate and fill to create their own mini world. It could be a room, a park, a jungle...whatever they like. All the materials are laid out for them to play and construct. Such fun with impressive results.

A great memento for the  celebrant to take home. A generic landscape is painted onto a board or canvas. Everyone contributes characters which are cut out and stuck onto the background by Primary Colours staff. A quick activity that looks wonderful.

This is a variation on the snow globe and is a great longer activity. We first make an object to go into the jar out of polymer clay that is then baked in the oven. Meanwhile we fill the base with plasticine before adding water, glitter, and the main character. They look great and are a wonderful keepsake of the day.

This is a very fun drawing game that is often used when there is not enough time for one of the longer activities. Partygoers create a drawing of a monster whose features are decided by the roll of a die. The eyes, noses, mouths, ears, legs and arms, are added to the basic shape of the monster, but the quantities of the features are left to chance.

Great fun for all ages and a good game to take home to play again and again with the family.

This is a fun quick activity often utilised when there is not enough time for a longer session. Partygoers simply draw their designs on the pre-cut paper which is turned into a badge by Primary Colours staff using a badge making machine. Two sizes are available: 3cm and 6cm diameter

This is a popular holiday workshop is available as an Art Party activity. Also known as The One Box Challenge, partygoers are provided with a single box and whole lot of other stuff to play with. They can paint, draw, and add details to their box to transform it into whatever they like. Popular themes are houses and shops, but we've also seen castles and jails! Windows and doors are drawn on the boxes by the kids and cut out by a responsible staff member so that there is no risk of injury.

This is a longer activity and will probably be the only activity at the party if selected.

This is a great whole party activity for older kids that like to sit and play and chat while keeping their minds busy.

Small tables are provided and it is the partygoer's task to fill those tables with a bountiful feast. Food is created in polymer clay, plates are made from air dry clay, and table cloths are often added as well.

It's an extremely mindful party activity that also delivers wonderful rewards. And the kids can really produce something of quality that they are proud of and want to take home to share.

Most kids love junk food almost as much as they love squishies and this activity combines it all.

These fun toys are created using paper, tape, markers, and toy stuffing. They're fun, easy to make, and once you know how you'll want to make more, and more. It also allows kids' imaginations to run wild as they create the ultimate party treat.

This activity is on the longer side, allow about thirty to forty minutes, and is suitable for kids over six years old.

Using a length of dowel, or a chopstick, and polymer clay, partygoers design and create their very own magic wand. Primary Colours uses SculpeyIII polymer clay for this activity which includes many bright colours, is easy to mould, and even includes a glow in the dark variety.

Once the wands have been created, baked and cooled down, children can decorate them with bejewelled stickers.

It's magic!

This is a great way for children to personalise their clothes. Using a tie dye kit, children prepare their shirts by folding and tying with rubber bands before squirting coloured dye onto them in plastic tubs. They could even draw on their shirts before dying them with permanent markers to really create a unique look.

Once dyed, shirts are returned in plastic bags to avoid staining. Care instructions are provided that include letting the dye set for 24 hours before rinsing.

NOTE: Primary Colours does NOT supply shirts for this activity. It up to guests to bring their own garments for dying. Please advise guests to wash new garments before bringing them in for dying to remove the sizing so a better result can be achieved.

A very popular, easy, and fun activity that looks impressive and worthy of the mantlepiece.

Students use the low melt glue guns to create these spectacular tiny statue installations which are then spray painted (by a Primary Colours staff member) in a colour of your choosing. Popular colours are silver, gold, hot pink, electric blue, black, and white.

Recommended for older party guests but has been successful with younger partygoers in the past.

These fun little boxes can be used to store precious items or house a pet rock that you decorate during the session. Cover the box in colour, stickers, and messages. This cute activity is great for younger kids, and we've seen some parents really enjoy making them as well!

This is a very quick activity that is great for little partygoers. These fun little puppets can be used to support the work done in Kawaii themed parties, or draw lips or eyes on them to create crazy masks. A good gap filler activity.

A great activity that uses a variety of Art making techniques.

The block of land is literally a block of wood and the house is sculpted with air dry clay using a template. The rest is up to the artist as a variety of objects can be added to the piece such as fake grass, mini boulders, flowers and paths. It's an open ended activity that allows children to play together at a gentle pace.

And they look great!

A fun activity where party goers get to create their very own precious object to take home.

This activity is great for kids aged 5 years old and up and requires some fine motor skills in regards to cutting out the butterfly. But the result is impressive and very precious.

Not the usual fare of Primary Colours but we can can guide a party of guests through a painting exercise. In this case, a simple landscape. The details and colours of landscape are up to the individual, but the structure will be consistent with all paintings.

​This activity is recommended for older guests (10 years and up) and requires about an hour to complete. No prior painting experience is necessary to achieve success.
